Otto Weidt ran his broom and brush factory in this alley in Rosenthaler Strasse. Among his customers was the Wehrmacht, which allowed him to have his business classified as vital to the war effort. Among his employees were 30 Jews, mostly blind. He managed to protect them until May 1943, when most were deported to the death camps. Only a few survived.
